Who we are
Hello! I am Amanda Smith, IBCLC and owner of Raindrops and Rainbows.
In addition to my IBCLC, I have a BS in Biology, a BS in Nutrition and Dietetics, and a MS in Nutrition and Dietetics. I have worked for WIC as a nutritionist since 2020, shortly after starting, my daughter was born. Chestfeeding was never easy for us, and there was complication after complication. Including having mastitis twice. It was the beginning of a worldwide pandemic, I didn’t know where to begin to seek help and felt lost with no direction to head in. My chestfeeding journey ended painfully and abruptly shortly after my daughter turned 9 months old. When I got the opportunity to become a Certified Lactation Specialist (CLS), I knew I couldn’t turn it down. After getting my CLS in 2021 I knew that lactation was the direction I wanted to head in. I wanted to help other parents have more successful journey’s than I did, and I wanted them to know that lactation care is accessible. I continued on and received my International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) certification in January of 2023. I love working for WIC and the parents I get to help through our program, but I knew I wanted to do more. When I found The Lactation Network (TLN) I felt like I had found my answer. This was how I help parents succeed in their lactation journeys. TLN’s company base is Closing the Gap on Lactation Care. Through them I am able to offer free lactation services, billed to insurance, at no cost to my clients. That way we are able to focus solely on the lactation journey and work together to meet your family’s lactation goals.
